Things I Didn’t Buy 27

While thrift shopping I saw sewing patterns that I liked, but were either similar to patterns I already owned or decided I just didn’t need. First, I liked this dress pattern that looks to be from the 1960s. I think the collar on the center dress is interesting.

I liked this simple dress pattern; both the pencil skirt and wider skirt are quite cute.

This dress pattern is also quite simple, and really it’s the fabric they’re using in the illustration that makes it more interesting.

I liked this suit pattern—in particular the jacket detail is pretty cute.

And finally, I loved the cape in this pattern.

Thrifted for $12.62

For $2.50, I bought this awesome aqua sweater that seems like it’s from the 1970s. It’s not a cozy sweater—it’s made of acrylic yarn that’s a bit scratchy, but I think it’s so cute. I love the cut of it, and I like the knit pattern and the blouse-like sleeves. Adorable.

I spent a total of $10.12 on the next items at a pay-by-the-pound thrift store. I’m drawn towards utilitarian items—like this plastic crate. I love the slate gray color, as well as the geometric pattern of the crate. It was fairly heavy (which accounted for most of the final cost of everything), and it was kind of gross. It had a lot of dirt on it and open spider eggs. Ewww…

I got this black belt, because it doesn’t hurt to have a spare one.

And I got this blue and white cotton fabric that’s perhaps shy of a yard. And this cute cotton floral retro-looking pattern that’s probably around a fat quarter.

I also got this Fire-King casserole dish that matches the style of my mixing bowls.

Things I Didn’t Buy 26

I thought this The Elephant Book was adorable.

And this Time Book was cute.

I liked this New Educational Music Course Second Reader book.

I also liked the simple covers of these The Musician books.

Finally, I thought this The Sound of Music record cover was nice.

1956 Sears Catalog: Set 1

I was at a thrift store and couldn’t help but buy this Sears catalog from spring and summer of 1956. It was $4, and I love looking at all the vintage clothing.

I like the fun prints they often use on the skirts.

The cover of the catalog isn’t much to look at, but I suppose it’s informative.

Things I Didn’t Buy 25

Here are some kitchen related items that I thought were interesting. I didn’t need these ping pong bowls…at all. I just thought they were highly amusing.

Next up, I thought about getting this recipe box. I love the art on it (although it annoyingly didn’t quite close properly).

I liked the animal art on this pressure cooker.

I thought this Scout-O-Rama mug was cute.

And this Columbia Pacific Council mug was nice as well.

Sewing Patterns for $1.50

I love this loungewear pattern that looks to be from the 1930s. It’s so cute. I can totally see Katharine Hepburn wearing something like this. I bought it for 50 cents.

I got this next pattern for 25 cents. I only got it because I like the layered skirt. I once had a skirt like this (that I loved), but I eventually had to donate it to a thrift store because it didn’t fit me any more (so sad).

Next, I got this jumper/dress pattern for 25 cents. It’s not unlike a sleeveless dress pattern I already have, but I like the sleeves it has in version D.

And finally, I really like this dress pattern that looks to be from the 1970s. I love the buttons down the front and the gathered sleeves. And the dress looks cute in both the one and two color versions of it. I got it for 50 cents.

Things I Didn’t Buy 24

This Bear cellophane tape tin is cute.

I really like the graphic simplicity of this Boraxo tin.

And this Great West tin is pretty awesome.

Nice Quaker Oats tin.

Finally, this Reese’s tin is pretty adorable.
