Things I Didn’t Buy 32

At an estate sale, I thought these playbills were interesting. First up, South Pacific. I really like the simple graphic illustration.

Here’s Gone With the Wind.

And Show Boat.

I like the type on this Carmen Jones art.

Oklahoma!

And finally, I like the simplicity of this Kiss Me Kate art.

Bought for $6.83

I got a few things at a pay-by-the-pound thrift store. First is the adorable Pendleton wool red short jacket. So cute.

Next is this navy wool jacket.

I got this black sweater that’s perhaps a bit large for me.

And this white woven belt that I thought would be good for summer.

I liked this light-weight floral skirt. It’s also a bit large for me, put I thought the pattern was interesting.

And I got a pair of Not Your Daughter Jeans gray pants that are super comfortable. I was needing some pants for cooler weather, so I was really glad to get this.

Sleeveless Gray Dress

I decided to make another dress using the pattern I’d used to create my red dress. Looking over my fabric stash, I chose a gray fabric that had about 4 yards. Because I had so much fabric, I decided to use the longer version of the dress pattern.

Since I’d already sewn this pattern before, I didn’t run into any issues. It was quick and easy. However, in retrospect, I probably should have used this fabric for a different dress. It’s a slightly heavier fabric, so I think I should have made a dress with sleeves instead. [Pause.] Oh well.

Things I Didn’t Buy 31

I really liked this Ace carbon paper packaging—simple, graphic, and I like the airplane and fonts.

This Royal School Life paper packaging is also great.

I liked this Acorn note book filler packaging as well.

And this Audio Magnetics packaging is pretty cute—love the script font.

Finally, this VHS cassette tape rewinder amused and saddened me in the way obsolete technology often does. This was once an expensive item that was sought after, but now, no one wants it and is in fact useless to practically everyone. But I do appreciate the general design of the product. And I like the Kinyo logo.

1956 Sears Catalog: Set 4

Some interesting print dresses—I especially like the red and white one.

And more print dresses.

I love all of these navy outfits.

Some nice plaid dresses (I like the yellow one), but I’d probably wear any of the three rippled cotton dresses on the right.

I like these outfits with pleated skirts.

Some nice simple dresses.

Gifted Clothes

My friend was cleaning out her closet and gifted me a few items. First is this Columbia Sportswear blue and white checkered sleeveless top. It’s cute and summery and screams, “ Let’s go on a picnic!”

Next, this Halogen blue and green patterned top is pretty nice. I think many people would wear it out over pants (on the left). But I prefer it tucked into a pencil skirt. The bottom section of the top is a bit too much for me.

This Caslon gray and white button-down shirt is nice. It has a geometric triangle pattern with little bits of seafoam green in it.

And finally, she gave me this magenta Nike sweatshirt.
