Thrifted for $6.12

For $3.13 I got this navy and white sweater.

And this purple sleeveless top.

Fleetwood Mac’s The Dance cd.

And an egg slicer.

Finally, I got this awesome National Geographic book from 1989 for $2.99. The inside’s not very interesting, but the cover is fantastic. I love the color and the gold geometric design on it. Sooooooo pretty.

Thrifted for $8.48

This old menu cover is awesome.

This sweater has to be at least 25 years old. I thought it was interesting. There’s definitely a fine line between frumpy and cool sometimes, but I think this could be cool. It just needs to be paired with more modern looking items.

This H&M cream and black cardigan was cute.

I liked these black and white pants.

And I thought this cross stitch book could be useful. The cover and many of the projects inside aren’t particularly interesting to me. But as someone that knows very little about cross stitching, it’s nice to have a very basic knowledge book.

And I got this Madonna cd with many of her old hits on it. The downside is that one of the songs, “Like a Prayer,” was damaged. But everything else was okay, so overall it was a good buy.

Thrifted for $3.97

I bought a few things at a pay-by-pound thrift shop. The glassware came to $0.86 and the clothing came to $3.11. First up, these cute Asian teacups.

Next up, what looks to be cups for sugar and milk for serving tea. Truthfully, I’m not sure if I’ll use these—but I bought them anyway.

I liked this Jones New York sleeveless sweater. I thought the pattern and colors were interesting. The only downside is that it’s probably a little too big for me.

I also got this pink polyester shirt that to me feels like it’s from the 1970s. I noticed after buying it there were a couple tiny stains that I’ll have to see if I can get out.

Finally, I got this vintage grass green dress that is also is too big (there’s too much room in the bodice area). I’m not crazy about the color and I don’t know if I will wear or even keep this dress. But it was so interesting. Simple, but I really liked the design detail on the sleeves.

Thrifted for Around $7

I went to a pay-by-the-pound thrift store and bought a few things. My friend and I weighed our stuff together, so I don’t have exact numbers for the clothes I bought. First up, this navy Chaps cardigan. I can’t help myself…I just love navy.

I also got this Kenneth Cole black pleated silk skirt.

The glassware was $1.74 all together. I got a glass pie dish. I’ve never made pie, but now that I have a pie dish maybe I will.

And I got seven small bowls—a mix of Pyrex and Fire King.

Finally, at a different thrift store, I got this black turtleneck sweater for $3.99. It’s nothing special—just a Target brand, but it fit and I thought I could always use a basic piece.

Thrifted for $6.63

I got this red wool jacket for $3.50. It looks like it’s the inner jacket that can zip into an outer jacket. It fit well and I like the collar and snaps down the front. I didn’t need another wool jacket—but it’s different than my other jackets in that it’s more casual...and I liked it because it’s red.

The next two items I got for $3.13; I probably shouldn’t have bought either of them. First is a gray and maroon wool sweater—it’s clearly a man’s sweater as it’s large on me. It also appears to be handmade (since I can see the yarn ends on the inside); it’s a well-made garment. I like the design and color choice of the sweater.

And I got a petticoat that I thought I could wear under skirts and dresses to make it more voluminous…and it does, but perhaps too much for me.

Bought for $6.83

I got a few things at a pay-by-the-pound thrift store. First is the adorable Pendleton wool red short jacket. So cute.

Next is this navy wool jacket.

I got this black sweater that’s perhaps a bit large for me.

And this white woven belt that I thought would be good for summer.

I liked this light-weight floral skirt. It’s also a bit large for me, put I thought the pattern was interesting.

And I got a pair of Not Your Daughter Jeans gray pants that are super comfortable. I was needing some pants for cooler weather, so I was really glad to get this.

Thrifted for $12.62

For $2.50, I bought this awesome aqua sweater that seems like it’s from the 1970s. It’s not a cozy sweater—it’s made of acrylic yarn that’s a bit scratchy, but I think it’s so cute. I love the cut of it, and I like the knit pattern and the blouse-like sleeves. Adorable.

I spent a total of $10.12 on the next items at a pay-by-the-pound thrift store. I’m drawn towards utilitarian items—like this plastic crate. I love the slate gray color, as well as the geometric pattern of the crate. It was fairly heavy (which accounted for most of the final cost of everything), and it was kind of gross. It had a lot of dirt on it and open spider eggs. Ewww…

I got this black belt, because it doesn’t hurt to have a spare one.

And I got this blue and white cotton fabric that’s perhaps shy of a yard. And this cute cotton floral retro-looking pattern that’s probably around a fat quarter.

I also got this Fire-King casserole dish that matches the style of my mixing bowls.

Thrifted for $16

I got this black Banana Republic top for $8. I really like the detail around the neckline and the peplum. The back has a gold zipper that goes most of the way down. It’s a really cute top.

And I bought this totally 1980s sweater for $4. I liked the general shape of it and thought it was interesting. Truthfully, I was on the fence about it (as I’m not really crazy about the color pink nor the fuzziness of the yarn), but my friends thought I should get it, and $4 wasn’t much to spend. My guess is that this sweater is handmade just by looking at the inside of the garment and the fact that there’s no tag.

I also got this plaid H&M shirt for $2. It’s lightweight and comfortable.

Finally, got this striped Daniel Hechter top for $2. I often see striped shirts in stores and think they’re cute, but I never like them when I try them on because it just doesn’t feel like me. The stripes often make me feel dizzy and the pattern is just too bold for me. But I really liked this striped top that has thin stripes that lack a huge color contrast—so it’s a more subtle statement.

Thrifted for $3.01

I bought two clothing items for a total of $3.01. First is this awesome aqua blue wool sweater. I love it. It’s so 1960s to me. It had some damage to it that I probably spent about an hour fixing. First, it had some small stains on the front and on both of the sleeves. I used some dishwashing soap and worked the soap into the problem areas by hand. Eventually, the stains came out (although this photo is from before I got the stain out). I have no idea if I damaged the sweater at all, but at least it looks better. I also noticed the neckline had a section that was fraying, so I used some thread to close the edge.

The second item I got was this Australia hoodie. I just liked it. It’s comfortable and cozy. 

And a coworker gave me this vintage tape measure that he thought I would like—so cute!

Thrifted for $23.50

I went thrift shopping and the clothes happened to be half off (which was awesome), and I bought quite a few items. This velvet and gold purse is so cute. If I don’t use it as a purse, I’m sure I could use it as a box. I bought it for $4.

This Stuart Weitzman gold purse is so cute; it’s simple with an interesting shape. I got it for $4.

I got this black Cynthia Rowley dress for $3.

I also got burgundy and black versions of the same Petite Sophisticate sweater for $2 each. I like the knit detail around the collar, and thought that both of these would work well with skirts.

This White House Black Market dress has removable straps, but I don’t like these types of straps, and I don’t wear strapless dresses. That being said, I loved the skirt portion of the dress with the black embroidery—it’s floral without being too girly. So I bought this dress for $3.50 with the intention of making it into a skirt.

I bought a white pair of Ann Taylor Loft capris for $3. I was pretty happy with this purchase, as I wanted more summery clothing. I also got a black Ann Taylor Loft T-shirt (not pictured) for $2. I’m always less inspired to buy T-shirts since they’re so plain. However, I was glad to buy this one not only because I needed it, but also because the T-shirt was made of thicker material that made wearing a camisole underneath unnecessary. I cannot tell you how annoyed I am by the thin fabrics women’s T-shirts are made of, and how often I am bitterly disappointed by T-shirts that are abysmally low in quality and ill-fitting. You’d think getting something basic like a T-shirt would be easy, but it’s not. [Sigh.]

Thrifted for $20

I picked up more things at thrift shops for $20. First up, I bought this white Banana Republic sweater for $8.

Next I got a jean skirt for $3.50. I’d been wanting a jean skirt for a while, so I was glad to finally find one.

I also got this deep purple pashmina for $5. I didn’t need it but I really liked the color.

A few months ago, I was at an estate sale and considered getting a ricer for $4. I decided against it because I thought I could get it for a better price. And I did! I was at a thrift store and got this ricer and this bowl for $3.50—that made me feel quite satisfied.
