Containers and T-shirts

Not all estate sales are equal. Sometimes you stumble upon awesomeness and sometimes not. Sometimes you feel like you got a great deal and sometimes not. The last estate sale I went to, I felt like things were overpriced (which was rather disappointing).

I found a three glass containers that I thought I could use, and also picked up a garlic press and hard-boiled egg slicer. Most of the items at the estate sale were unmarked, so when I went to checkout I found out how much it was going to be: $8. I had decided I didn’t want to spend more than $5. So I ended up getting just the glass containers for $5.

My friend also gave me some free T-shirts, which was nice of her. The last couple of times we’ve been shopping together, I’ve been looking for some shirts to wear at home. I’m not someone that wears T-shirts often, so I don’t have a stash of T-shirts that others may have (and I’m not buying brand-new shirts as loungewear). So I was glad to take these shirts of her hands.

Super-Wide Leg Star Pajama Pants

Recently, I sewed another pair of super-wide leg pajama pants. I love the first pair I sewed, but noticed it was looking a little worn, so I decided to sew a second pair. This time I used this light blue with white star pattern fabric (that I got an estate sale).

I’m very satisfied with my pajama pants. They’re very comfortable, light and airy—perfect for when the weather becomes warmer. And as always, I love anything with pockets.

Things I Didn’t Buy 6

I saw this jacket at a thrift store and really liked the cut of it, but I wasn’t crazy about the natty fabric (that was also going bald in some places). So I couldn’t justify buying it, but I wouldn’t mind trying to make something like it…someday.

I love book covers, but I didn’t need any of these books.

I don’t need a sewing machine, but I love the look of this Royal sewing machine. I like the almost badge-like type on the machine.

Things I Didn’t Buy 5

Here are some children-related items I thought were interesting (although never had any intention of buying). First up is this sad little one-eyed stuffed animal that could be the Japanese TV mascot Domo.

This caught my eye because I remember the Care Bears. I don’t recall much of the actual plot from the Care Bears, but I’m pretty sure this cartoon did not stand the test of time, and if I were to watch it now I would be bored to tears. But nonetheless, I was intrigued by this 1980s toy.

This nested Care Bears toy perplexed me. They’re set up like Russian nesting dolls, where there’s a smaller shape inside of a smaller shape. The part that I thought was poorly thought out was the fact that they’re shaped like Russian nesting dolls, with the slightly curvy womanly shape, but instead of making each shape into a bear (which would totally work with their little potbellies), they put a scene on it. That’s not fun at all; they feel less like dolls and more like containers.

I thought the design on this Bible Game was interesting—very 1960s.

Finally, this TarePanda was fairly large and in good condition. It’s pretty cute…but totally unnecessary.
