DIY: String Tag


I wanted to make something that used string as a focal point. I think in the back of my mind were those cardboard thread holders that you might find in a travel sewing kit, where the thread is held in place by an indented part of the cardboard.

I had embroidery floss that had been sitting in a drawer for years, so I decided to use it in this string tag.

Sympathy Birthday Card


When I was about 12 years old, I was at the supermarket and stumbled upon the greeting card aisle. My mom’s birthday was around the corner and she was turning the milestone age of 40. I hadn’t planned on buying her a card but my eyes caught sight of one with a flower on it and I read it and laughed. It was perfect; I bought her a sympathy card for her birthday.

It’s Golden


Dressing up a kraft Moleskine notebook is pretty commonplace because it’s just such a great blank slate to work with. Stamping, screen printing and drawing directly onto the notebook were all options I considered, but I decided to emboss the cover.

Hello Tag


From the beginning, I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted my “Hello” tag to look like. At first glance I wanted the type to look just like lines, so I created my type to be tall and narrow and placed the type across the width of the tag.
