From the beginning, I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted my “Hello” tag to look like. At first glance I wanted the type to look just like lines, so I created my type to be tall and narrow and placed the type across the width of the tag.
Looking at the tag vertically, I think you lose the “Hello” and see colored lines, while looking at the tag horizontally, I think the “Hello” becomes quite readable. For the color selection, I picked pairs of color that were bright and happy (to make it feel more like a hello with an exclamation point—an implied one). Finally, I finished by rounding two of the corners, punching a hole and threading it with string.
