Thrifted for $7

I got these Corelle dishes—5 bowls, 8 small plates, 5 medium plates and 6 large plates for $5. Very 1970s design.

I also got this cool spatula and salt and pepper shakers for $1.

And I got four cds for $1. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast soundtrack and The Bravery were two cds I knew I would like, so I was quite happy to buy both of them.

I was disappointed in the Movie Hits cd. I got it mainly because of “Everything I Do, I Do it for You,” because I remember liking that song. But when I listened to it again, I didn’t like it as much.

This is My Song set of cds had three cds in it (and missing the one disc) that were older songs—I think all before 1970. There were a lot of songs I didn’t know, but some I did know and like. So there were some happy surprises in there.

Thrifted for $6.69

I got these two tops at a thrift shop—they were on sale and together they were $3.50. I loved the color of this purple Ann Taylor Loft blouse. I liked the details on this top and the bit of texture of the fabric. I think it will be a nice light blouse for warmer weather.

I also got this navy Ann Taylor top. It's a simple jersey top. The most interesting part is the back that has a gold zipper that goes a third the way down the back.

At another thrift store I got a mason jar, three small bowls and two tops for $3.19. I thought this mason jar was cute.

Three more Pyrex small glass bowls. They match some bowls I bought previously.

This black and white top was interesting to me—it's kind of retro. I'm not sure when it's from, judging by the sizing, maybe a couple decades back.

Finally, I got this navy Banana Republic anchor sleeveless top. I liked the pattern and the detail around the collar.

Thrifted for Around $7

I went to a pay-by-the-pound thrift store and bought a few things. My friend and I weighed our stuff together, so I don’t have exact numbers for the clothes I bought. First up, this navy Chaps cardigan. I can’t help myself…I just love navy.

I also got this Kenneth Cole black pleated silk skirt.

The glassware was $1.74 all together. I got a glass pie dish. I’ve never made pie, but now that I have a pie dish maybe I will.

And I got seven small bowls—a mix of Pyrex and Fire King.

Finally, at a different thrift store, I got this black turtleneck sweater for $3.99. It’s nothing special—just a Target brand, but it fit and I thought I could always use a basic piece.

Things I Didn’t Buy 25

Here are some kitchen related items that I thought were interesting. I didn’t need these ping pong bowls…at all. I just thought they were highly amusing.

Next up, I thought about getting this recipe box. I love the art on it (although it annoyingly didn’t quite close properly).

I liked the animal art on this pressure cooker.

I thought this Scout-O-Rama mug was cute.

And this Columbia Pacific Council mug was nice as well.

Things I Didn’t Buy 22

This airline box is pretty fantastic. I love the different logos on it.

I liked this Needle Book art.

And this Magic Stylus art was interesting as well.

This emergency raincoat’s packaging was nice.

These mixing bowls were cute.

I considered getting this ceramic teacup, but it was chipped so I decided not to.

$13.50 at an Estate Sale

At an estate sale, I was walking around and initially saw this Slide-n-cut and thought it was cool. I looked around the sale for quite some time, and eventually found my way back to it and decided I just had to get it and got it for $1.50.

I also got this Brownsville wool green blanket for $4.

At another estate sale, I bought these cute Fire King baking dishes for $3 each. I couldn’t resist. I had seen the round baking dish at a thrift store for $8 and had decided not to get it (as I bought a different dish instead). So I was pretty happy to get two dishes for under that $8 price.

And finally, I bought these four glass bowls for $2.

$19.50 at an Estate Sale

Usually, at an estate sale, I like to go around the house a couple of times. The first time around, I take a broader look to see if anything catches my eye. The second (or third) time, I generally spend more time looking through things and see items I didn’t notice before.

I think I’d gone around the house a couple of times before I saw this set of three white Fire King mixing bowls in the kitchen cabinet. Maybe they hadn’t been there before or perhaps I just hadn’t noticed them. But I liked the external swirl pattern and they looked like they were in pretty good condition. I got them for $15. When I looked it up later, they seem to be from the 1950s, although initially a set of four bowls.

I also got three small glass bowls for 50 cents each.

And I bought an umbrella for $3. I’ve had my old cheap umbrella for years, but I noticed the other day that it’s starting to fall apart, so I was glad to get a new umbrella.
