Thrifted for $3.72
I bought three sewing patterns for a quarter each. The first is this 1970s dress pattern. I thought the cut of the dress was nice; I liked the shorter dress and thought it would be cute without the lace (the lace just brings it to a girly level that’s just too much for me).
I got this 1980s dress pattern that looks very simple. I like easy-to-sew garments because I’m more likely to actually try to sew them.
And I got this coat pattern from the early 2000s. I got it specifically for the middle coat (as I do not like the oversized collar on the other two coats). I had a specific mission to try to find a very simple straight jacket, and I thought that with a couple of adjustments, I could make this pattern work for me.
I also got three cds for 99 cents each. I bought Oasis’ What’s the Story Morning Glory?, Poe’s Hello and Duran Duran’s Greatest.

Thrifted for $6.12
For $3.13 I got this navy and white sweater.
And this purple sleeveless top.
Fleetwood Mac’s The Dance cd.
And an egg slicer.
Finally, I got this awesome National Geographic book from 1989 for $2.99. The inside’s not very interesting, but the cover is fantastic. I love the color and the gold geometric design on it. Sooooooo pretty.

Thrifted for $15.25
I got more cds—seven for $1.75. I got Brittney Spears’ Britney, Mariah Carey’s Emotions, Kelly Clarkson’s Thankful and Fiona Apple’s Tidal.
And I got some movie soundtracks, The King and I, My Best Friend’s Wedding and The Full Monty.
I also bought a black square frame for $1. One thing I should have checked before buying this was making sure the photo in it could be removed easily. The previous owner had the genius idea of gluing the photo to the glass. So after I ripped out the photo, I had to painfully remove the torn photo from the glass with water and Goo Gone. I hadn’t finished doing that when I took this photo, which is why there is not glass there.
However, with fall was around the corner, I made the effort to find and buy pants. And I succeeded. [Yay!] I found three pairs of pants. The first is a pair of black J Brand skinny pants that I got for $4.50. It has a slightly “rocker” feel to them as there are zippers on the sides, and the seaming around the knee reminds me a bit of motorcycle pants. The fabric is also a bit shiny, and I didn’t realize it until after I bought it that it’s “dry clean only”—which of course I wasn’t going to do. I hand washed them and air dried them, and they were fine.
And I got gray Not Your Daughter Jeans for $3.
Finally, I bought these Banana Republic olive green pants for $5. Sometimes there’s a tag that tells you when something was made, which is kind of interesting to check. This one says 04/Fall. So these are some 14 year old pants and still in pretty good condition.

Thrifted for $5.22
For $3.41. I bought this blue Adidas jacket.
I got this cool vintage travel book. And a garment bag that wasn’t interesting enough to photograph.
For $1.31, I got this cute white and navy sailor dress. It’s super simple but I like the detail around the neck. The one downside is that it’s a bit long in the bodice—as though it was made for someone much taller than me. So I think I’ll have to alter it in order to wear it.
I also got this blue with black trim Express top. It’s very simple. I liked the color and the rolled-up sleeves.
And I got two cds, Sheryl Crow and No. 1 Hit Mix for 50 cents. The No. 1 Hit Mix cd has an interesting array of songs—about half I like—like Jon Secada’s “Just Another Day Without You” and P.M. Dawn’s “Set Adrift on Memory Bliss.” There are some great 1990s songs on the cd—and I’m not going to lie, I enjoy Right Said Fred’s “I’m Too Sexy” and Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back.” They’re utterly silly, and while I would never have paid full price for them back in the day when they were new, I will enjoy them now (along with the other songs here) for a quarter.

Thrifted for $11.25
I got this brand new (tags still on it) H&M button down white shirt for $4. It’s not the most exciting shirt, but it’s a good basic to have.
I do not need more boxes…at all. But they are my weakness. My kryptonite. I got these two slide boxes that feel very 1970s to me.
The large one was $2. It has two levels to it.
The small slide box was $1.50.
I got four silver tins for $1. I thought I could use them for gift boxes if I couldn’t find a reason to use them for myself.
I got a Cuisinart frying pan for $2.
I bought Janet Jackson’s Design of a Decade cd for 25 cents. It had some songs I was missing—like “Nasty” and “What have you done for me lately?”
And I got the My Fair Lady soundtrack for 50 cents. I really like the music—it’s fun and has good lyrics.

Thrifted for $26.98
I got this awesome tennis top for $7.99. It has one pocket (for an extra tennis ball for serving). I love the simple geometric design on the front. I also got a pair of jeans for $4.
I got this Banana Republic navy blazer for $6.99. I used to have a blazer similar to this one—except it was black and a much cheaper version of it. I wore it until I had to throw it away since it was looking pretty ratty. So I was pleased to finally have a replacement for it.
And I got this leather skirt for $5. I would never buy a leather skirt new because they’re so expensive, but I couldn’t resist it at such a low price. And I like the stitching detail on it as well.
I love this mug. I like the simple design, the white glaze on the rough clay—so pretty. This was 50 cents.
And this cute Japanese animal mug was also 50 cents.
I got this white bowl for $1.
Finally, I got four cds for $1. Some blast from the past music.

Thrifted for $8.48
This old menu cover is awesome.
This sweater has to be at least 25 years old. I thought it was interesting. There’s definitely a fine line between frumpy and cool sometimes, but I think this could be cool. It just needs to be paired with more modern looking items.
This H&M cream and black cardigan was cute.
I liked these black and white pants.
And I thought this cross stitch book could be useful. The cover and many of the projects inside aren’t particularly interesting to me. But as someone that knows very little about cross stitching, it’s nice to have a very basic knowledge book.
And I got this Madonna cd with many of her old hits on it. The downside is that one of the songs, “Like a Prayer,” was damaged. But everything else was okay, so overall it was a good buy.

Thrifted for $7
I got these Corelle dishes—5 bowls, 8 small plates, 5 medium plates and 6 large plates for $5. Very 1970s design.
I also got this cool spatula and salt and pepper shakers for $1.
And I got four cds for $1. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast soundtrack and The Bravery were two cds I knew I would like, so I was quite happy to buy both of them.
I was disappointed in the Movie Hits cd. I got it mainly because of “Everything I Do, I Do it for You,” because I remember liking that song. But when I listened to it again, I didn’t like it as much.
This is My Song set of cds had three cds in it (and missing the one disc) that were older songs—I think all before 1970. There were a lot of songs I didn’t know, but some I did know and like. So there were some happy surprises in there.
