DIY: Glitter Pin

Glitter is not to be ignored—it screams, “Look at me! I’m here!” As a child I had a great appreciation for glitter, but with time tastes change, and now I prefer matte to shine. Yet there are times you might want the bright sparkle of glitter to bring a sense of fun. Glitter is celebratory in nature, so I thought a glitter pin could be a nice accent in wrapping a present.

SUPPLIES

• 1 inch bar pin
• Chipboard (I used the back of a tracing paper pad)
• Pencil
• Ruler
• X-acto knife
• Modge Podge and paint brush (or other preferred adhesive)
• Glitter
• Strong adhesive

DIRECTIONS

With your pencil and ruler, measure and mark on your chipboard the shape you want.

With your x-acto knife and ruler, cut out the shape.

Apply Modge Podge with a brush to the chipboard shape.

Sprinkle glitter to cover the Modge Podge. Shake off any excess glitter from chipboard shape.

Recommended: Have a folded in half sheet of paper below the chipboard shape to catch the excess glitter; the crease will help direct the extra glitter to go back into its canister.

With the strong adhesive, glue the bar pin to the back of the chipboard shape. Glitter Pin complete.

Starting from a square, I removed triangular pieces to create this cross shaped pin.
