DIY: Used Calendar Placemat

I’m a packrat, and I’ll keep old wall calendars in the hopes that I'll use them in some way. With twelve months and twelve different images, I decided to use those calendar images as placemats. The placemats are easy to make, disposable and adds a nice pop of color to the table.

SUPPLIES
  • Used wall calendar (average 12 inch square size)
  • Scissors
  • Scrapbooking Scissors (that has a pattern to its blade)

DIRECTIONS

— 1 —
Open the calendar to the center spread. Carefully tear out the calendar pages one by one.

—2 —
Cut the calendar pages in half, so that each image is on its own sheet.

—3 —
With scrapbooking scissors, cut on all four sides an image. (I didn’t measure out the placemat size; I kept the width near 12 inches and just eyeballed the height I wanted it to be and cut in a fairly straight line.) Repeat with the other calendar sheets to create the number of placemats needed. Used Calendar Placemat complete.

While the scrapbooking scissors aren’t essential in creating this placemat, I think that that little extra design element helps to elevate the quality of the placemat.
