DIY: Toilet Paper Roll Flower

Toilet paper rolls are disposable items we all have. I was looking at one and thought that its shape could lend itself well to a flower. I like the symmetry of something with the word “toilet” in its name coming up roses (figuratively speaking).

SUPPLIES
  • Toilet paper roll
  • Scissors
  • Double-sided permanent tape (or you can use a strong glue if you prefer)
  • 2 colors of nail polish/paint (I used nail polish because I liked the sparkly sheen it provided)

DIRECTIONS
— 1 —
Remove any extra paper from roll.

— 2 —
Cut roll lengthwise. You should have two halves of the roll.

— 3 —
Cut off four strips from one of the halved roll. (I cut mine at about ½ inch thick.)

— 4 —
Round ends of strips.

— 5 —
Cut a small circle from the excess halved roll.

— 6 —
Paint the inner part of the strips with one color of nail polish. Let it dry.

— 7 —
Paint the outer part of the strips and circle with a second color. Let it dry.

— 8 —
Create a cross with two strips and tape together.

— 9 —
Create a second cross with the other two strips and tape together.

— 10 —
Tape the two crosses together ("x" cross over the "+" cross).

— 11 —
Tape the circle to the center of the cross.

— 12 —
Tape onto a package as decoration.
