I had extra yarn and thought I could use it in a simple bracelet that revolves around knotting. It’s not very difficult to make, and I think it creates a nice texture and pop of color.
- Yarn (I used a 4 thickness; cotton)
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Jump rings (I used two 10mm and three 4mm size)
- Clasp
DIRECTIONS
— 1 —
Cut 7 lengths of yarn, each about 44 inches long.
— 2 —
Gather all of the lengths of yarn and thread them through a
closed 10mm jump ring. Center the jump ring on the yarn.
— 3 —
Knot the yarn together (by creating a large loop and
threading the jump ring through the loop). Slowly tighten the knot, and try to get
the knot placement directly below the jump ring.
— 4 —
The yarn will naturally divide into two equal parts. In each
hand take a yarn part and knot the yarn together. Repeat this knotting until the
bracelet is the length you want (and take into consideration that the clasp
will add extra length to the bracelet).
— 5 —
When you’re happy with the length, gather all the strands
together and thread them through the second closed 10mm jump ring (it may be a
tough squeeze depending on the thickness of your yarn). Knot all the yarn
together (by creating a large loop and threading the jump ring through the
loop). Slowly tighten the knot and try to get the knot placement directly
below the last knot.
— 6 —
With your pliers, connect the clasp to each end of the
bracelet by using the 4mm jump rings.
— 7 —
Cut the excess yarn to the length you like (and this creates
the “tassel”). Knotted Yarn Tassel Bracelet complete.
Note: Consider
the thickness of your yarn and how many strands you use in relationship to your
larger jump ring (in my case 10mm). You may need to adjust the size of your
jump ring to fit the thickness of your yarn.
