Travel Kits

I admit, a part of me wanted to buy new tins that were flat on the outside so I could design a cute sticker for the top, but the practical part of me decided to just use the Altoids tin cases I already had (since it seemed wasteful not to).

Slit Tag

I decided to make a tag that didn’t use any adhesive. There are times when you don’t want to damage your image with cutting or gluing (or maybe you just don’t have any adhesive around), so instead I created a “frame” for the image.

You + Me = We-eee! Tag

I’ve had “You + Me = We-eee!” in my head for a while now—I just hadn’t gotten around to doing anything with it. It happens quite often with me that I have an initial idea and I just let it simmer for days or weeks or months, just waiting to become motivated and inspired enough to actually create something out of it.

Lucky

I like the look of screenprinted items, but I think I lack the patience to screenprint in the traditional way. Looking at the directions that came with the screenprinting kit I bought, I quickly lost motivation. So many steps. [Sigh.] I can be quite lazy. So instead of using the kit, I ended up using light sensitive materials that could create a reusable screen (which to me, seemed simpler).

DIY: Cut Away Bookmark

Although I love reading, I must admit that I generally use a scrap piece of paper as a bookmark rather than an actual bookmark. Why do I do this? I’m not sure. Maybe the nice ones are just too nice to use.

But I thought I’d make a bookmark—and maybe I’ll actually use it. It’s a pretty simple bookmark that reminds me a bit of a stained glass window.

Japanese Postage Stamps

Shopping at airports is for the desperate. Everything is overpriced and generally tacky. Those shops are for when you forget to buy someone a present and are therefore forced to buy something with the name of the city/country you’re in.

However there are exceptions to the rule, and while at a Japanese airport I found a bag of used postage stamps; there were approximately 1000 stamps in a bag for about $5. I like postage stamps because they’re every day objects that most people don’t think too much about, but some of them are quite lovely to look at.
