Things I Didn’t Buy 73

I liked this painted picture that has a Russian feel to it. I love the colors, design and how intricate it is.

These two 1970s 3D pictures are pretty awesome.

And I liked this cute mirror.

Finally, the Montgomery Ward scale was cool.

Flea Market Finds

At a flea market, I bought two awesome items. First, I got this utterly unnecessary compact mirror…but it’s so cute. I love the simple blue, white and gold design that feels very 1950s (but I’m not sure how old it is).

When it’s opened there’s obviously the mirror and a place for the puff.

There’s a little button that opens to the powder compartment below. Everything is intact, but the outside closure is slightly askew so it has to be closed “just so.” I got it for $10 and I’m not quite sure what to do with it. It’s not the most usable item, as I don’t need to carry around a heavy mirror/compact.

I also got this metal paper organizer for $10. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. There’s a clasp at the top that can be raised so the organizer can be expanded out. It has metal tabs to organize vertical lettersize papers. It’s so simple and utilitarian—I love it.

Things I Didn’t Buy 2

More things I thought were interesting but didn’t buy at a thrift store and estate sale. First is this game Tactics II. I’m not interested in war games but I like the box design.

I actually considered buying this mirror in a silicone sleeve but decided I didn’t really need it. I thought the design was interesting—totally 1970s. Although I’m not sure what “Equitable savings is people” means…

I just thought this box design was amusing with the super cheesy line, “Have a heart at your next party!” It’s a bunch of heart-shaped cake molds that I would never use.

Finally, I liked the design on this Super Nu-Kote box that feels late 1960s to me. Of course I didn’t need this (as I don’t have a typewriter).
