While I was working on my Flashback to 1990’s TV Shows Notebooks, my mind veered into another direction: a Buffy the Vampire Slayer poster. My brother loves Buffy the Vampire Slayer (as do I), and I thought it would be fun to create a Buffy poster for him as a Christmas present.
I immediately thought a “Who’s Who” poster would bode well with
simple drawings representing each character. I made images for many (although
not all) of the characters in Buffy; the ones that I chose to make were either
in a large chunk of the episodes or were especially memorable (even if there
were only in a few episodes). For the images, I focused on what they are (e.g. Oz is a werewolf), something
they do (e.g. Xander does
construction so he uses a hardhat) or something they love (e.g. Harmony loves unicorns).
I drew my images and organized them into three main
categories: The Good Guys, Good Affiliated (sometimes) and The Big Bads. The
purely good and purely bad characters were easy enough to organize; the Good
Affiliated (sometimes) are for the most part good guys that delve into the side
of evil from time to time.
It’s a small “poster”, only 7 inch by 11 inch. I tend to
prefer minimal color usage, so I chose dark yellow for the images and brown for the
type. I’m quite happy by the way it turned out and think it’s quite cute (and nerdy
as well).
